TRENDS IN HOME DESIGN AND REMODELING
The Design Thought Leaders Ask the Experts
Are you interested in the latest trends in home design and remodeling?
A recent survey executed by Design Thought Leaders, a partner of Kleber and Associates, revealed some interesting trends. The survey included home designers and remodeling contractors*,who volunteered to participate in this important ongoing research surrounding the home.
Some food for thought:
1. Homeowners age 55 or older are a group likely to hire design/remodeling services. Such things as having a bedroom/full bath on the main level, functional or safety features installed in baths, or kitchen cabinets with adjustable and pull out shelving are deemed important to this growing demographic.
2. All ages of homeowners are interested in home design features. Noteworthy features include:
Customers of those surveyed prefer larger versus smaller homes, more luxurious amenities, and larger garages. There also appears to be a growing awareness for environmentally-friendly home products, such as energy saving appliances and other energy saving features.
Trends in home design and remodeling vary somewhat between demographic groups, but all homeowners are acutely interested in their home decor.
As the general population continues to age, trends will shift to accommodate the needs of this growing segment.
