K&A Reports from the GreenBuild Conference and Expo
After arriving to the Greenbuild Conference in a HYBRID taxi, K&A felt the right vibe from the city of Boston in terms of sustainability. With approximately 29,000 professionals in attendance at the new Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, the USGBC annual Greenbuild ev
ent nearly doubled in size from last year. The three-day jammed back show, Nov. 19 – 21 was filled with a huge exhibition floor and tons of educational seminars to attend.
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, we spent the first day walking the floor memorized by some of our findings. For instance, we were most impressed with Forbo Flooring System’s use of space showcasing no carbon footprint. The booth had no structure and no height promoting only its gorgeous flooring products. Moreover, the Forbo booth had a live Webcam that reported back to its customer service headquarters.
**K&A rated the Forbo booth as the most attractive approach with the right message.
Moving along the tradeshow floor, we were also enthralled with Dryvit EIFS popular cladding system used in construction today and considered the most eco-friendly insulation. The booth had a stylish Yamaha motorcycle on display, which attracted a lot of eyes. Other notable companies seen at the conference were the following:
AFM’s natural plant-based finishes for painting decks, fencing and wood floors.
Sloan’s use of greywater to conserve water in flushing and lavatory drains.
Lutron’s lighting automation booth was very popular offering visitors a unique enclosed theme with various lighting options such as purple and green.
Marketing manager - Rob Worthington of JELD-WEN Windows & Doors was happy to be present at the show after waiting for over a year on the Greenbuild exhibition waiting list. We learned that JELD-WEN has many educational outreach programs to support its “building green” initiatives.
Overall, Boston was a great place to have the show as the entire city is looking to build green into the future. K&A definitely looks forward to next year to see just how big the Greenbuild Conference becomes! Stay tuned.
