Imagine you are on a home makeover show with your spouse. You both have put a tremendous amount of work into the remodel… a lot of sweat, maybe even a few tears. Then to your surprise, at the end of the “build” you and your spouse are eliminated from the competition. After your former competitors leave the last home you worked on as a member of the show, the host tells you that the home you and your spouse are standing in is now YOURS!
That’s exactly what happened on FOX’s new show “HOME FREE.” Nine deserving couples competed in this new home remodeling show hosting by licensed contractor and home improvement television veteran Mike Holmes. K&A arranged a specialty product placement for our client Feeney, Inc. and its CableRail architectural railing system.
Our agency worked with Feeney and the “HOME FREE” production team to coordinate the product order and delivery as well as the legal and logistical operations, ensuring the process went as smoothly as possible for all involved parties. Feeney’s CableRail is sure to remain top of mind for millions of viewers as it was featured in episode 7 on the interior staircase and around the exterior deck space of the finished home.
We have utilized this marketing tactic for years; strengthening and growing our relationships with producers and production companies as well as the publishing and media companies that own the networks and programming. Through these connections, we are able to stay abreast of new shows and opportunities for our clients.
We’ve brokered product placements on multiple highly rated shows, including The Apprentice, Good Eats, and Bob Vila’s Home Again. On the syndicated show Livin’ Large, our client Studiobecker was featured building a gigantic custom closet for the show’s host, Carmen Electra. Then in 2014, K&A negotiated a similar deal with the DIY Network to feature WoodTrac closet systems on Rev Run’s Renovation.
With networks like HGTV, The Learning Channel (TLC) and DIY Network, building material marketers have seemingly endless outlets to get their products in front of their target audiences. The affordable cost of product donation and the potential ROI are enough that you cannot ignore the opportunity!
