This year, Chicago was host to the annual Remodeling Show (although I would argue it could have been more aptly re-titled “Outdoor Living Show,” as interior “remodeling” treasures were interspersed among a wealth of the exterior finishes exhibited).
Consistent with economic realities, innovative brands are taking advantage of existing spaces… from basement remodeling systems to exterior installations of every scope and budget. From wood-alternative decking – in PVC, composites and even recycled carpet nylon – to railing systems, fireplaces and outdoor kitchens, it’s clear the low-maintenance backyard continues to be the new destination for home expansion. Standouts included Danver, Feeney, Fiberon, Gossen, Kleer and Nyloboard.
Designed for upgrading oft-neglected indoor spaces, brands such as Owens Corning Basement Finishing System and WoodTrac Ceiling System provided business building leadership for remodeling contractors seeking competitive advantage.
