June 2008 marks two of the building industry’s highly anticipated events the Southern Building Show & Conference (SBS) and PCBC. First up is SBS held this year in Kleber & Associates’ (K&A) own Atlanta backyard. Then it’s off to San Francisco to encapsulate the excitement of PCBC. Can’t attend? Don’t sweat it. K&A will be there to capture all of the breakthrough building trends, pioneering product introductions, and insight from the building industry’s illustrious educational speakers.
SBS 2008 Rocks the Southeast
To be held this year June 11-13 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Ga., the SBS has earned the reputation as one of the housing industry’s top regional education experiences. Designed to prepare builders, remodelers, and suppliers to take best advantage of improved market conditions, the 15th annual SBS will feature the latest building products and services as well as cutting edge education programming available in the market.
Also new this year is the SBS 2008 Showcase Home “EcoLumina” to the first SBS showcase home, which will be LEED-certified. EcoLumina will feature its own magazine distributed to all show attendees, as well as tours running to the showcase home throughout the course of the show.
Steve Kleber to Speak at SBS 2008
In today’s market, the success of a product line is determined by how well that brand aligns with buyers’ lifestyles. In the outdoors, that means designing for entertaining, relaxation, and well-being. At the forefront of building industry design trends, Steven Kleber, president and founder of K&A, in conjunction with architect Dominick Tringali, will present statistics and data demonstrating just how significant outdoor spaces are in today’s building market. Attendees will be enlightened on how to develop floor plans that seamlessly blend indoor/outdoor living and help to create the outdoor environments buyers want in various climates and regions of the country.
Mark your calendars for June 11, 2008 to attend Kleber and Tringali’s presentation on Outdoor Living: An Evolving Landscape for Home and Garden Consumers. If you are unable to make the presentation, e-mail bizdevelopment@kleberandassociates.com for a copy.
PCBC 2008 Heads to San Francisco

Revolutionary Products are the Hype of PCBC 2008
Hybrids aren’t just for cars anymore
Grand Hall, a worldwide leading innovator and supplier of residential and commercial gas appliances and components, will display its newest revelation at PCBC 2008 “the Eternal hybrid water heating system.” Combining the best of both tank and tankless systems, Eternal is engineered to out-perform all other water heaters in the marketplace. It utilizes a patented counter-flow design and multi-pass heat exchanger technology that maintains an 86 percent thermal efficiency rating with consistent pressure.
And that’s not all. The industry experts, Carey Brothers will host the Grand Hall/Eternal booth awarding prizes to attendees playing the brothers’ “Spin to Win” game. Third generation contractors, nationally syndicated columnists, and hosts of the radio show On The House, the Carey Brothers can attest to the reliance and dependability of Eternal as Morris Carey currently has one installed in his own home.
“The biggest change I’ve seen [with Eternal] is on my utility bill,” he said. “I am receiving water at the temperature that it is supposed to be, and no longer have to worry about my tank running all the time.”
“Cool” Roofs
Going green never looked so good. In response to a recent study that found lower operating and maintenance costs motivating 63 percent of consumers to purchase green homes, MonierLifetile, the leading concrete roof tile manufacturer, will introduce its new Energy Efficient Roof (EER). This innovative system’s ventilated assembly provides a 50 percent reduction in heat penetration into the conditioned space of a home, thereby decreasing heat and energy costs by up to 22 percent as compared to an asphalt shingle roof.
MonierLifetile’s new EER couldn’t be timelier as on April 9, 2008, the Dallas City Council unanimously approved the incorporation of numerous green building practices into law. Effective Oct. 1, 2009, builders of projects less than 50,000 square feet will be required to use 15 percent less energy and 20 percent less water than current Dallas energy conservation code standards mandate. Additionally, under Dallas’ new code, roofs must be more energy efficient on buildings smaller than 50,000 square feet. Moreover, projects larger than 50,000 square feet will face similar requirements.
Enhancing the perception of PVC trim products. Why “wood” you use any other trim?
KOMA Trim Products, provider of exterior trim solutions used for a variety of applications including fascias, window and door surrounds, flat panel applications, custom millwork and decorative columns and trim, will be featuring its 2007 Building Professional of the Year Winner, Sean™ Connor. This idea exchange program recognizes one leading building professional who effectively and innovatively incorporated KOMA Trim Products into housing designs and projects.
KOMA is introducing several new products at PCBC 2008 including soffit systems, water tables, as well as an extension to its popular Allure Collection of extruded PVC mouldings.
