For some, the color black has an ominous connotation, but at this year’s International Woodworking Fair, Aug. 24-27, 2016 in Atlanta, this dark hue outshone the rest of the spectrum. From glossy acrylic cabinet door finishes to decorative hardware, black was the hottest color on the show floor.
Element Designs – Seen here are Element Design’s aluminum frame cabinet doors in a black powder coat finish. For added appeal, the cabinet also features the company’s LED DecoPanel. This ultra-contemporary design is perfect for storing and illuminating precious artwork.
Salt International – This European-style cabinet was a highlight at IWF. The Krystall Gloss doors in Midnight Black really make the design pop. As an added bonus, the acrylic material allows for the doors to be scratch-resistant as well as impervious to spots and humidity.
Hettich – The days of traditional wood-colored drawer interiors are in the past. Manufacturers are bringing color to even the most obscure locations to ensure a seamless design scheme. The ArciTech drawer system from Hettich can be used in both residential and commercial applications, including in kitchens, bathrooms, offices, and more.
Richelieu Hardware – It’s all in the hardware. These decorative knobs and pulls caught the attention of the K&A trend-spotting team. The flat, rose-style metal knobs are from the Grace Collection, while the other floral and rounded knobs are part of the Porcelain Collection. Designers will love mixing and matching these pieces to create playful atmospheres in kitchen and bath spaces.
