K&A Green Team on Earth Day
As millions of people around the globe recognized Earth Day yesterday, so too did our K&A Green Team. Some of the K&A staff along with our friends at Nichiha disconnected from the grid for a while to help out at a local park. We donned our t-shirts made of organic cotton and joined forces with the folks at Chastain Park Conservancy for an outdoor project.
One of the park’s greatest needs is improving its spillways. These structures allow a controlled release and flow of water so as not to overflow or destroy surrounding areas. Some of CPC’s spillways have blockages from branches and other debris, which often causes an overflow during rainstorms. Our team was hard at work clearing overgrowth and digging a wider, deeper spillway. Now, hopefully, the expected rain this weekend will flow properly rather than onto the street!
In addition to improving one of Chastain’s spillways, our team cut down overgrown branches in order to raise the canopy of the area in which we were working. Now visitors and passersby have a clearer, more aesthetic view of the wooded area.
I’m thrilled we were able to partner with the Chastain Park Conservancy, as the not-for-profit organization is dedicated to the health, preservation and renewal of one of Atlanta’s most beloved parks. CPC celebrates natural beauty and resources while serving as a fun and safe place for families to visit and play.
Another way we celebrated this week – and the environment – was by sending our clients small tokens of our appreciation. This year, we sent porcelain coffee mugs that celebrate two things most people love: coffee and taking care of the Earth. First making a buzz at the Museum of Modern Art, the “I am not a paper cup” is an eco-friendly alternative to disposable cups.
You could say…we’re going green with caffeine!
