Amid a backdrop of Google’s dizzying developer conference which launched literally across the street from the convention center and Lennar’s controversial local redevelopment project seeking China state bank funding, another successful trip to San Francisco for the Pacific Coast Builder’s Show is complete. Although attendance felt a bit sparse, the quality of valuable leads for exhibitors punctuated the PCBC 2012 theme ‘Powered By Connections’. Taking a leap to San Diego next year, many potential exhibitors will be surveying the horizon from the nearby IBS/Vegas destination in January.
Yes, of course biased (because of our love for this industry), we always seem to find worthy brands that bring innovation to the west coast event with the latest in technology and unique materials. In case you missed the event, we are recognizing some favorites:
Bök Modern

Bök Modern, a revolutionary railing and screening architectural metal system for architects, designers and contractors which is produced from a variety of metals including aluminum, cold and hot rolled steel, cor-ten and stainless steel. Prefabricated, the system minimizes on-site waste and allows for a variety of dramatic perforations for privacy and artistic expression.
Century Shower Door

New From Century Shower Door, was the Essence shower enclosure, a frameless enclosure with one fixed panel and one moving panel, with rollers on the bottom, rather than the top. This unique configuration eliminates the need for a header which allows for dramatic and flexible installation opportunities.
Continental Fan Manufacturing

CFM displayed its DVK Dryer Booster Kit, designed to help resolve residential, commercial and industrial dryer vent problems by supplementing a dryer’s integral fan and enhancing its drying efficiency. Most residential dryers have been designed to vent approximately 15 feet of duct. With the introduction of main floor and secondary floor laundry rooms, duct runs have become complex, often exceeding manufacturers’ recommendations, and result in longer drying times and higher energy costs.
Danver Outdoor Kitchens

New for PCBC 2012, Danver Stainless Steel Cabinetry introduced its exclusive line of Brown Jordan Outdoor Kitchens, a stainless steel cabinetry collection offering a palette of unique colors and textures to complement Brown Jordan’s outdoor furnishings. Architects and designers recognized their expanded freedom to create unique outdoor living rooms with ability to go beyond “stainless silver” via dramatic finishes including realistic wood grain powder coat options.
Gerber Plumbing Fixtures

Known in the plumbing industry for their high-performance water conserving products, Gerber displayed its Viper™ 1.28 High Efficiency Toilet. Powerful front rim jets provided a superior performing flush while utilizing only 1.28 gallons of water (which we understand can help consumers and building owners alike save a minimum of 20 percent in water usage).
Nichiha USA
Nichiha showcased its complete line of fiber cement cladding and siding for residential and commercial applications. Their newest product, NichiFrontier, displayed a collection designed to portray the realistic look of cedar shakes, while offering the durability and performance from fiber cement technology.

Nichiha was most proud of its recently completed project at the Golden Gate Bridge Pavilion — utilizing their Illumination Series Panels in the International Orange color to match the famous bridge overlooking the center. Attracting close to six million visitors a year, the Golden Gate bridge project was one of the highlights of this year’s area openings!
